"Probably just missed me. Leave a message, I'll get back to you." TEXT » AUDIO » VIDEO » FILE » ACTION ( ICly, texts will take longer due to Jason being hardwired for Latin )
[ his arrival had meant not coming with his sword, the one he'd been adapting his way around and easing himself into for years. and while Jason had been nice enough to offer the use of the gladius bestowed upon him by Juno, it wasn't the same. the weight was distributed differently, made him clumsy in his follow throughs.
and while he could summon an undead teacher of some design, Nico still isn't sure what happens to those he calls upon after they finish. he doesn't intend any other necromancing until that part is figured out.
but that does mean his options change.
he leans against the doorway of Jason's room, sword in hand, the weight still foreign. ]
[ Jason had been fortunate, to find Ivlivs. Sure, he'd nearly chipped a tooth biting down on it, but he'd been fortunate regardless. There was no doubt that he questioned the fact that it functioned as it should, that it was the perfect and familiar weight in his palm-- whether coin or spear or sword-- but he would accept the gift regardless.
It meant he could offer the gladius Juno had given him to someone who would need it more than him. While Juno might question the choice he'd made, he hopes that she would understand it as well.
He thinks she might have. She seemed more understanding than the Greek's Hera did.
It's when he's rolling the coin across his knuckles, looking down at his phone, that Nico appears. Lifting his head, Jason palms the weapon and sets the phone aside, network forgotten. ] Sure. What's up?
I- Was wondering if you'd be interesting in sparring.
[ his gaze, once on Jason, slides off to the side. finds interest in the rest of the room so he doesn't have to actually look at the other demigod when he poses his question. less that he's nervous and more that he still doesn't entirely know how to read him. ]
I don't feel comfortable raising the dead here to ask for them to help, and I'm not accustomed to fighting with the weight of imperial gold. And- I think it's best that we keep training while we're here. All of us.
[ Considering Nico as he looks everywhere but at him, his expression softens a little at the edges before he rocks his weight forward to get up to his feet. The house they found themselves in isn't in the best of conditions, but it's still something. It's still theirs-- all of theirs, Nico's included-- and it's the safest place they have right now.
Especially if they want to train themselves, prepare for whatever might happen. ]
That's a really good idea. We can't risk getting rusty here, or being unprepared. And, you know... [ He offers him a smile, coming towards him and angling his head a little to try and catch his gaze. ] We've only really gotten to fight alongside each other twice. It'd help us get used to working with each other in battle more.
[ Nico straightens up on instinct alone at the movement, shoulders tensing under a jacket that's always been too large for his frame. when Jason moves closer, attempts to make eye contact, Nico begrudgingly meets his eyes. if people are unnerved by Nico and how he radiates death, he's unnerved by Jason, who seems to trust him too readily, too easily. ]
[ the reception in the tower is abysmal, but Nico refuses to give up on at least trying to get through. regardless of the fact that he isn't sure he can talk to Jason, nevermind face him, he deserves to know that Nico is still there. that his death didn't equate to Nico returning back to their world.
he dials again, waits for Jason's voicemail to pick up. ]

[ Jason has to listen to it more than once when his phone goes off with the voicemail, and he nearly fries it with how hard he's gripping it to his ear. But when he feels the tingle of a shock, he lets go and takes a deep breath.
